Per Öster

Dr Per Öster is Director at CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd, Finland. Dr Öster is leading the Research Infrastructures unit responsible for CSC’s and Finland’s involvement in major research infrastructures, einfrastructures and related initiatives such as PRACE, EGI, EUDAT, ELIXIR, and the Research Data Alliance. Dr Öster joined CSC as director in 2007 and has also been heading the company’s activities in supercomputing and distributed computing, scientific application support, HPC support, and scientific software engineering.

Volker Beckmann

Volker Beckmann

He finished his PhD in astrophysics at Hamburg University in 2001, and then became postdoc at the INTEGRAL Science Data Centre (ISDC) in Geneva to build the data analysis pipeline of the INTEGRAL gammaray satellite’s spectrograph. From 2003 to 2007 he worked as head of the INTEGRAL guest observer facility at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre, and taught at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Hermann Lederer

Hermann Lederer

Hermann Lederer received a diploma in physics from the University of Munich and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the Technical University of Munich for studies of the quaternary structure of the RNA polymerase promotor complex and its components by neutron small-angle scattering. After a post-doc position at Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry with research stays at ILL (Grenoble), Risoe National Lab (Roskilde), and DESY (Hamburg), he took a position at RZG.

Doina Cristina Duma

Doina Cristina Duma (Female) is the leader of the Distributed Systems group at the INFN National Center (CNAF), providing the core operational support for the INFN-wide Grid infrastructure and for the CNAF Cloud infrastructure. The task of her group is also to investigate how to evolve the existing infrastructures to pursue increased resource efficiency in view of the progress in the underlying technologies.

Donatella Castelli

Donatella Castelli is a Research Director at Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie della Informazione  “A. Faedo” of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-ISTI). She has been the principal investigator of several European and International funded projects on digital libraries and data e-Infrastructures acquiring considerable experience in these domains. Currently, she is the principal investigator of the EU H2020 BlueBRIDGE project.

Tiina Kupila-Rantala

 

Dr Tiina Kupila-Rantala works as Deputy Managing Director in CSC – IT Centre for Science Ltd., Finland. She is responsible for the company governance and strategy work. She belongs to the secretariat − nominated by the Finnish Ministry of the Education and Culture − that envisage how digitalisation and artificial intelligence could support the future development of the universities. She is also in charge of the strategy and business development work package (WP2) of the European Commission project EOSC-hub providing services for the European Open Science Cloud.
